ABOUT THE BOOK
Jo-kang’ato: A Model for Christian Unity in the Ecclesial Life of the Church in Africa takes readers on a journey to discover more profound relationship based on an African of kinship. In his exploration of Christian unity in the ecclesial life of the Church, Hezron Otieno Adingo takes as from the classroom (scholastic) theology, which is primarily embedded in idealism, to a theology that speaks to the heart of the African person. The contribution made in this piece of work enriches the experiences of Christians globally, too. It presents the philosophy of life among the Luo of Kenya as a panacea to the culture of individualism through a collective approach to life advocated for by the concept of jo-kang’ato, which is both African and Scriptural.
Dr. Adingo invites the reader to a perception of the Chruch as the society of God here on earth, which receives and embraces everybody into its circles without discrimination through mission in preparation for heaven. The Church succeeds in this program when Christians are united. Christian unity is a form of integrity, which the concept of jo-kang’ato upholds firmly.
